St Barth's Bucket 2010
Thirty-nine sailing yachts that if placed bow to stern, would be nearly a mile long battled it out on the beautiful waters of St Barthelemy in the Caribbean for the St Barth’s Bucket last month. A gentleman’s race for, you guessed it, nothing but a bucket and the right to say you had won it. “Bucket Races” started on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts twenty-four years ago and pit some of the largest and most beautiful sailing vessels in the world against each other. Vessels from 76 feet to 184 feet (24-56M) sailed three races around the island.

Yachtsman “lightens ship” with GMT mast and PowerFurl boom
Ron Drucker, retired President of railroad giant CSX, knew what he wanted but knew serious engineering was required to achieve it. Going from his Hylas 54 to a new Hylas 70 meant shedding two feet of draft from the original design in order to sail safely into his homeport of Key Biscayne, Florida. GMT was a big part of the engineering solution.

Famous Sleds Get Re-Turbocharged
Who in sailing hasn’t heard of Merlin and Ragtime - the two break-through “sleds” in TransPac racing? Both also share being brought back from retirement and supercharged with GMT carbon spars.
30 years after her birth, and just before the 2005 TransPac, Merlin lost her aluminum mast. GMT was contacted to see whether we could design, engineer and build a new rig before the race. We did, and that performance plus Merlin’s success brought Ragtime’s new owner.

Each latest circular shower is 40 inches (1m) in diameter and 80 inches (2m) tall; each was delivered in three pieces to facilitate installation by MAV Aircraft (Fort Worth, TX), contractor for the Russian jet’s special interior.
Two Hinckley’s Get New Spars
Stefano Pacini loves his Hinckley 51, Galileo, and now he has an ulterior reason as well. Just in time for the Marion-Bermuda Race, he took delivery of a new GMT carbon fiber mast. He’d wanted to improve his sailing performance and comfort and, with our help, determined that the best upgrade would be one of our spars. The proof came in Bermuda: he beat his father and brother-in-law, who were racing a Hinckley 52.
